Business Desk: Central government may soon make a big change for the maids. In fact, the government can allow companies to work four days a week with flexibility. However, this may require work in long shifts. According to Labor Secretary Apoorva Chandra, the rule of working 48 hours a week will continue but companies can be allowed to work in three shifts. No pressure on all three shifts
Chandra says that we will not put any pressure on employees or companies regarding these three shifts. It will be given flexibility. According to Chandra, this provision is being made to keep pace with the changing work culture. This provision will be part of the Labor Code. Once the new rules come into force, companies will not need approval from the government for a four or five-day working week.
At the moment this is the rule
At present, work is done six days a week with an eight-hour shift and employees are given a day off. According to the proposal, no employee shall work continuously for more than five hours without an interval of at least half an hour.
Must be discharged before starting a new work week
Chandra says that companies have to discharge employees before starting a new work week. If companies choose a 4-day work week, employees will have to leave for 3 days. If 5 days work week is chosen then 2 days leave will have to be given. Experts say that after the new labor code is implemented, companies will have the freedom to choose 8 to 12 hours of workday. Companies will be able to choose the workday in terms of demand, industry and location.
